In answer to Andy’s question, Yes! The Disaster Preparedness Certification program is well worth a chaplain’s time and energy. It has so much information needed by anyone who works with law enforcement or any other agency charged with protecting the public. I highly recommend it.

Has anyone taken the Disaster Preparedness Certification course offered by ABCHS? I’m thinking about taking it. Is it the kind of course a chaplain should take or do I skip it? Just wondering. Thanks to Dr. O’Block for making these courses possible.

I agree. The CMC program is one of the best resources I’ve seen for chaplains. I’ve recommended it to several colleagues who want to further their education and be more prepared. Keep up the good work ABCHS!

This is a VERY good course to take for anyone who wants to be prepared for a disaster. I especially liked how the course breaks down the basic protocols for handling an emergency situation. It’s important for first responders to know the chain of command so that they can be most effective. Thanks to Dr. O’Block for another great course.

I didn’t get a chance to go to the conference this year due to work related issues. I heard from other members that Dr. O’Block and his staff did a phenomenal job though! I hope I’m able to go to the conference this year. I need to call Mrs. Schmid to get signed up!!

I’m willing to bet Dr. O’Block and his staff at ABCHS already have the ball rolling on this topic. Usually stuff like this is covered in the Inside Homeland Security publication though. I hope to see more on this frightening subject in an issue soon!

This course sounds interesting! It seems like it would be good to know and need to know information on both the professional and home fronts. I’ve heard good things about the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security and it’s founder Dr. O’Block.

This program, as well as others from the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security, really dive into the needs of professionals, like myself. I love that Dr. O’Block takes the time to think about what it is we would like to see in a course as well as find out what it is that we need in a course. Kudos to him!!
